Believe it or not, Crete offers, among other attractions, the option of visiting caves! Sfendoni Cave is located 1km North of Zoniana Village, in Rethymno.
It is considered one of the most beautiful caves in Greece, a maximum length of 145 meters with direction from North to South, covering an area of approximately 3000 square meters.
Inside the Cave are many stalactite and stalagmite complexes to be admired. The path is very safe and specially trained tour guides accompany the visitors and explain the gloriousness of the place.
It may look like a lifeless cave, it is however full of species, perfectly adjusted to the particular conditions inside the Cave. Its favourite guests are bats, who love the darkness and the humidity this place offers.
