Samaria Gorge

Samaria Gorge is the most famous and longest gorge in Europe. Almost 130,000 people visit the gorge every single year and for many is the sole purpose of visiting Crete. The gorge is almost 16km long and its most popular part is the “Iron Gates”, which is the narrowest point of just 3 meters width and 500 meters height!

Samaria Gorge is located in the sierra of White Mountains in Chania, it is very well marked and was declared a National Park of Greece almost 60 years ago! Samaria hosts numerous species of fauna and flora in the gorge. The most famous is the Kri-Kri, the cretan goat with the distinctive large horns that reach 1 meter, and with a population of about 2,000 animas is considered vulnerable!

The end of the route leads to the magnificent beach of Agia Roumeli. The refreshing dip in the sea and the relaxation on the sand of the beach is the ideal end of the Samaria Gorge tour!
